Job Summary:

In a career as a Pharmacy Technician, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will support the pharmacist by performing technical and clerical tasks in the pharmacy.

Schedule: Nights, 7-on, 7-off

Location: West Hospital

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Prepares, packages, and labels medications as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Performs aseptic compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous parenteral admixtures as well as hazardous and non-hazardous non-sterile compounding.
  • Distributes medications to nursing units, operating rooms, and clinics.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory for medications and supplies by monitoring inventory, removing outdates, and communicating ordering needs.
  • Performs medication history interviews and compiles complete, updated medication lists for patients.
  • Performs stocking and cleaning of automated dispensing devices.
  • Assists pharmacist with audits, reports, quality improvement projects, and assignments.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.
  • Maintains records, invoices, and files as required.
  • Participates in the training of new pharmacy personnel.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Nebraska required.
  • National (PTCB or ExCPT) or State Pharmacy Technician Certification (NE-CPhT) obtained within one year required.
  • If registered as a Pharmacy Technician as of January 1, 2016, must be certified upon hire required.
  • If first registered after January 1, 2016, must be certified within one year from the registration date required.
  • BLS certified within 90 days of transfer or hire required.
