Job Description

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Senior IT Facilities Engineer to provide global, Level 3 support and engineering to ensure the proper day-to-day operation of the firm's co-location data centers, local office computer rooms and its foundational infrastructure.

The senior engineer will be responsible to support and monitor all client side power distribution, environmental cooling and hardware deployment. This includes maintaining the physical infrastructure along with the associated wiring and network connectivity. Other responsibilities include, working on critical and non-critical break/fix incidents, service requests and daily project tasks; supporting and overseeing all capital projects, office renovations and supporting the local IT staff with schedule power outages and maintenance events.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Technology and Infrastructure Services, will sit in our Philadelphia office, and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

Instructional/Support Activities Include:

  • Have a working knowledge of various platform technologies needed to manage, support and discuss with engineering resources.

  • Provide level 3 support, troubleshoot and technical assistance to all local and regional IT support and engineering teams in the deployment and operation of IT equipment.

  • Using industry standard applications and utilities; provide daily monitoring, operation and maintenance of all equipment and environmental infrastructure.

  • Support local IT staff with scheduled building power outages, generator testing and maintenance events.

  • Work with local IT and building engineers to manage and schedule vendor resource and service contracts.

  • Ensure that data center locations, local office computer and IDF rooms are in compliance to Firm Standards and Best Practices.

  • Support and manage capital projects, office renovations, new build-outs and office relocation projects.

  • Provide technical expertise for root cause analysis and remediation recommendations for legacy hardware and technology solutions.

  • Manages all aspects of the project execution including; project scope, technical requirements gathering, solution architecture design and implementation, project planning, change control, risk management and project reporting.

  • Provide oversight and leadership training to other team members and support staff; instill best practices solutions, product training, and supporting the environment.

  • Proactively work with other technology and project teams to understand and anticipate current and future state needs as they pertain to the physical infrastructure environment.

  • Domestic and international travel may be required to support tasks and project initiatives.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical knowledge. Appropriate certifications preferred.

  • 10+ years of Information Technology Systems and Data Center experience.

  • Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, Air handling units and CRAC units.

  • Thorough command of the industry language and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of technical and non-technical users
