Summary:

The Software Engineer/Report Developer is a member of the Information Services team within the Department of Institutional Advancement (IA) and reports directly to the Sr. Lead Software Engineer. This role works collaboratively with team members to provide data supporting fundraising and engagement. The developer's primary responsibility will be to create, maintain, and deliver reports and dashboards using diverse tools in response to user requests. Other work includes data maintenance, integrations, and other duties as assigned. This role will work with various functional and information service roles in the Advancement Collaboration Center. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to evaluate business requirements.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of technical experience in programming, data management, and dashboard/report development. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Customer service orientation

*Understanding of Oracle database design and programming; such as SQL queries and PL/SQL objects like functions, procedures, packages, triggers, views, cursors.

*Skilled in report development tools like Cognos, Tableau, and/or Power BI.

*Programming experience in Java, Python, or similar language and familiarity with web development using JavaScript, CSS, and/or HTML.

*Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in programming environments.

*Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.

*Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express technical concepts to functional users.

*Strong desire and ability to learn.

Preferred:

*Exposure to a data modeling and data warehousing environment.

*Experience with Business Intelligence/Data Driven reporting.

*Familiarity with development tools, like SQL Developer, GitLab (any version control), APIs, and IDEs.

*Banner ODS/EDW or other Ellucian analytical products.

*Experience working in Higher Education.
