Lead Plastics Molding Technician, Full Time, 1st Shift, Easton PA

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for directing and supervising other mold technicians to improve overall team effectiveness. This person is an active member of the team who maintains and monitors plastic processing equipment (may include injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, related auxiliary equipment and tooling) to deliver efficient operation and performance. Responsible for cross-training people and standardizing processes across plastic processing facilities to deliver the highest productivity and performance from the team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads mold technicians to ensure production coverage, preventative maintenance, and focused improvements are achieved. *
  • Creates and reviews plastic processing standards and leads training of team members to optimize performance, synergy, and resilience across all facilities. *
  • Works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality and Scheduling to optimize machine uptime and staffing. *
  • Develops meaningful goals & objectives and KPIs for the team, provides performance evaluations and makes hiring decisions with input and assistance of the manager. *
  • Coaches and develops technicians and apprentices to improve overall performance.
  • Works with Engineering and outside Vendors to deliver capital projects and focused improvements as required.
  • Maintains and monitors plastic processing machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling to ensure performance standards are achieved.
  • Performs mold changeovers, setup, and process adjustments to ensure safety, quality and efficiency metrics are met.
  • Plans and schedules preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola's Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree required (Associate Degree or Technical Certification in related field are preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating and maintaining hydraulic, electric, and hybrid injection molding equipment and tooling.
  • Experience and advanced working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components and systems.
  • Ability to lead and direct personnel across all shifts to complete necessary tasks required for safe and efficient operation.
  • Must have ability to read prints and schematics, order parts from prints and an understanding of CMMS and Microsoft Office software.
  • Expert knowledge of material properties and processing requirements of common plastic resins.
