About the role

The Communications Manager will take ownership of Balfour Beatty Investments' internal communications platform and showcase your creativity to develop and execute effective and innovative communications plans throughout the organization by sourcing, writing and publishing content across a variety of media formats. You will help align and engage our employees around our cultural framework and strategic priorities through dynamic communications. This position will focus on internal employee communications strategy and execution, applying employee branding to recruitment marketing, and promotion of company events and achievements to drive employee engagement. You will work alongside team members within the Marketing & Communications department and business leadership to engage and connect all employees and serve as a Company-wide communications resource, while providing responsive customer service.

You will develop and execute the internal communications strategy in line with Company objectives and culture, including ongoing measurement and optimization of channels and tactics. Develop internal communications to promote Company programs and initiatives, leadership messaging, cultural framework, events and organizational announcements. Assist with establishing and supporting the Company's employment brand strategy and recruitment campaigns by creating engaging content for web, social and other channels. Partner cross-functionally to proactively mine internal story ideas and content creation. Responsible for managing the Company intranet to keep it refreshed and relevant as a key internal resource for employees. Plan and coordinate employee meetings and events, including executive town halls, employee appreciation events and national meetings.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to assist in developing and distributing effective employee communications; regularly measure employee communications performance and optimize tactics and channels accordingly.
  • Manage the Company intranet strategy to ensure content is accurate and consistently refreshed and relevant to the business; train and support content admins.
  • Regularly meet with representatives from all areas of the business to source and develop internal news stories; identify stories suitable for external channels.
  • Work with the talent acquisition team to support overall employee recruitment efforts and promotion of the Company's employment brand, including developing copy and art direction for online job advertising, social posts, job fairs, etc.
  • Help coordinate event logistics and communications, event branding and materials, presentations, attendee surveys, etc.

Who we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in in communications, journalism, business/marketing-related field or liberal arts (English)
  • 5+ years in corporate communications
  • 2+ years of internal communications with project management experience in a corporate/business environment
  • Superior writing skills with obsessive attention to detail (please be prepared to provide samples)
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective listening skills
  • Ability to assess/understand varied audience needs and points of view
  • Ability to capture and write in stakeholder 'voice', and varied tones
  • Ability to make technical information clear and easy to understand through storytelling
  • Ability to write with accuracy and speed
  • Strong project management skills: highly organized, results-focused and timeline sensitive
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office 365 suite (including SharePoint), video tools and social media and communications platforms
