Title: Fleet Manager

Location: Philidelphia, PA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibilities to manage Rail Fleet, including size of fleet, specifications for rail cars, rail car procurement and leases, and railcar life cycle management.
  • Maintain Fleet records, to include damaged/repaired cars and activity impacting rail fleet. Ensure internal and external databases up to date.
  • Arrange handling and repairs to cars in transit across the rail network, including customer or transload locations, as needed to keep cars moving. Budget responsibilities for rail car fleet repairs.
  • Coordinate with Green River Fleet Supervisor who is responsible for maintenance/repair of cars within the Genesis Alkali Green River facilities to identify cost savings synergies.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing and Green River Distribution Manager regarding business forecasts and perform regular evaluation/re-evaluation of fleet sizes
  • Procure new railcar leases as required. Ensure compliance with lease terms.
  • Coordinate with Rail Strategy Manager to optimize mileage credit collection and maximize mileage for which credits are collected.
  • Manage quarterly and yearly tonnage/rail/fleet reporting.
  • Responsible for all aspects of on-boarding new cars into fleet and retirement of cars as appropriate.
  • Responsible for identification of offsite storage needs and implementation to support business plans.
  • Rail car movement outside Genesis Alkali facilities, including troubleshooting deviations
  • Develop and report metrics and analytics to evaluate options and performance. Make recommendations based on data, keeping accurate records of all proceedings.

Activities:

  • Review lease invoices for accuracy and dispute if needed.
  • Review invoices for rail repairs, associated services, and off-site storage for accuracy.
  • Perform quarterly reviews to ensure eligible mileage credits are being paid.
  • Lead Supply Chain efforts in remediating excessive dwell in accordance with commercial agreements.
  • Work closely with Green River Fleet Supervisor and Supply Chain contractors to maintain updated record of which railcar is assigned to which fleet
  • Manage car repair which are not done on site
  • Work with Transportation accounting contact on billing irregularities associated with leases and deployment of new cars to the fleet
  • Manage compliance with required maintenance/testing requirements for fleet (airbrakes, DOT, etc).

Skill, Capability and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required and 10+ years of experience with rail transportation.
  • Excellent negotiating skills. Experience negotiating with rail suppliers preferred.
  • Must be well organized with proven analytical skills
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Strategic thinker; ability to develop overall rail strategy to control costs and improve service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships
