Currently announcing a vacancy for a Senior IT Support Specialist.

Job Summary

Directly responsible to the Director of IT & Operations for activities related to providing a broad range of systems and application support, research and analysis, administration, performance availability monitoring and management.

Essential Functions

Perform controlled incident resolution including prioritization and escalation, involving business and technology partners as appropriate.

  • Service applications and systems and provide application, systems, operational availability levels that meet or exceed standards and service levels already established, while minimizing operational risk.
  • Promptly schedule and release new applications in a timely manner, reduce change execution times by planning implementations with parallel work streams (while working with stakeholders as appropriate).
  • Consult with all areas of the organization to provide technical expertise by acting as a technology reference, trends and processes related to your own area.
  • Strive to improve production environment stability by working with IS colleagues to set up, maintain and monitor applications and systems, while meeting availability targets.
  • Provide prompt, effective day-to-day support, accurately identify and resolve issues, perform controlled and timely incident resolution all while making client satisfaction a top priority.
  • Deliver effective support (application, software, and operations), research system issues and opportunities, recommend changes, oversee rollout execution, keep accurate documentation.
  • Design, review, integrate application requirements (e.g., functional, security, integration, performance, quality, operations).
  • Address application, cross-capability, and cross-release issues.
  • Gain understanding of technical aspects of project and break-fix development related to the application, advise system admins, developers, and network architects.
  • Strength in identifying root causes and implementing targeted and controlled remediation plans and a readiness to review, participate in and implement procedures.
  • Assume incident lead role (communicator, tracker, escalator, driver, etc.).
  • Monitor system life cycles, ensure both specs and functionality support business objectives and architecture decisions, re-develop as required.
  • Use meaningful metrics to monitor environment performance.
  • Improve performance and resource utilization by assessing and analyzing opportunities to optimize the operational environment.
  • Follow established processes/standards, business technology architecture, risk, and production capacity guidelines; plan, monitor and escalate issues as required.
  • Comply with both disaster and business recovery plans.
  • Identify/implement process improvements to enhance user experience.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configurations, mapping, processes, and service records;
  • Supports preparations and user acceptance testing required for infrastructure projects and enhancements;
  • Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Training and Experience

A candidate should possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Technical Certifications preferred or 5 plus years equivalent career experience. Educational background and/or experience should have prepared candidates for extensive and complicated work in Information Technologies.

The successful candidate should possess:

  • At least five (5) years experience in the support of complex networked information systems;
  • At least five (5) years experience as a lead technician in a multi-user, multi-location Microsoft, Cisco, and Metro-E wide-area network environment.
  • At least five (5) years experience supporting technologies such as Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Server OS, Microsoft SharePoint, Apple Hardware, OS, iOS and Android based devices along with several years of professional interaction with individuals not directly involved with information systems.
  • A candidate should be adept at configuring, upgrading, and administering computer software applications, in co-ordination with appropriate stakeholders.
  • A candidate should possess strong subject matter expertise, as you prepare to provide colleagues with technical guidance and assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • A candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience interacting with teams of developers, technical, and non-technical staff, including vendors to fulfill support requirements. Experience developing and delivering presentations and educational workshops to a wide range of audiences. Ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical individuals.
  • A candidate should be able to work independently in a lead role on a diverse range of tasks and may be relied on to train/educate others.
  • A candidate should display a high comfort level in leading the support of complex and/or comprehensive applications and systems along with a willingness to work effectively as a team, helping others to resolve critical service issues.
  • A candidate should provide leadership in enhancing knowledge/expertise in organizational services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools, and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development.
  • A candidate understands the importance and commits to continuing to enhance their knowledge by staying up to date with industry and organizational trends, research standards, best practices, and new innovations, and making recommendations.
Physical Requirements and Word Environment
  • Work involves moderately heavy work in an office setting. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift objects, and perform similar actions during the workday.
  • Candidate must be able to work long hours, drive to locations throughout New Jersey, and occasionally travel out-of-state, as needed.
