Overview

Our Design Engineering function is growing rapidly! Our sprawling Lansdale, PA campus needs an Engineering Development Manager. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong engineering and programmatic background that has experience in managing engineering development programs and continuous improvement efforts across a diverse product portfolio and has proven capabilities to work across functions in a matrix organization to achieve operational results.

Responsibilities

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee engineering activities on development programs, in coordination with program management, to assure successful program execution for technical, schedule, development cost, and design-to-unit-production cost (DTUPC) objectives.
  • In coordination with program management and the lead engineer, develop detailed program schedules and engineering work assignments.
  • Update schedules for engineering tasks on an on-going basis, identify issues, and develop and implement work-arounds with the engineering team to maintain schedule and program objectives.
  • Participate in design reviews. Work collaboratively with manufacturing engineering to assure that design-for-manufacturing and design-for-reliability principles are applied.
  • Coordinate drawing and material releases with the engineering, drafting/design, and material planning functions.
  • Lead, participate in, and facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to engineering development, test readiness, production readiness, and other engineering-related topics using Kaizen, A3, and other continuous improvement methods.
  • Manage engineering Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data collection and reporting for development programs. Drive improvements in engineering performance metrics.
  • Leading engineering management efforts for research & development projects.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
  • BS Engineering, Physics or any science degree.
  • Five (5)+ years of development(program and/or product) experience.
  • Four (4)+ years of experience in coordinating multi-discipline engineering development teams in a high-tech manufacturing company.
  • Five (5)+ years' experience with electronics or electro-mechanical design & manufacture and strong technical expertise.
  • Five (5)+ years' experience in managing technical efforts, including scheduling and action items for development programs.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license.
  • This position will require the ability to gain security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eight (8)+ years of development(program and/or product) experience, including 4+ years of experience in coordinating multi-discipline engineering development teams in a high-tech manufacturing company.
  • Six (6)+ years of experience with electronics or electro-mechanical design & manufacture and strong technical expertise.
  • Six (6)+ years of experience in managing technical efforts, including scheduling and action items for development programs.
  • Seven (7)+ years of experience in coordinating multi-discipline engineering development teams in a high-tech manufacturing company.
  • Experience with electronics or electro-mechanical design & manufacture and strong technical expertise.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across functions, to management, and to customers.
  • Master's degree in a technical specialty or in management.
  • Active SECRET security clearance.
  • Experience in program management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project to plan and manage development programs.
  • Experience in driving engineering processes, practices, and measures of performance and proven track record with continuous improvement achievements in engineering organizations, including working knowledge of LCM and/or Stage-Gate methodology and Lean practices.
  • Certification in Lean 6-sigma methods.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Experience working in and driving results in a matrix organization.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers.
  • Business experience, including responsibility for budgets, cost estimates, resource planning, and proposals.

Salary Range: $123,000 - $185,000 annually (Lansdale, PA)

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well business results.
