Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Manager, Operational Excellence Services with experience managing operational excellence programs in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Manager, Operational Excellence Services is responsible for supporting Leadership in empowering a High-Performance Culture and applying the Safety and Operations Management System to most effectively achieve safety and operational goals and objectives. This role will have regular interaction and engagement across all levels of Operations and Operations Support Teams including Operations Leadership and Program Owners to ensure ongoing alignment and support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Management: Manage the Operational Excellence Services Team as related to their primary roles and responsibilities, as well as their goals and professional development.
  • Leverage experience to effectively communicate, facilitate, provide input, and act as a liaison between operations, program owners, and leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Operations Program Management and Support: Manage and support cross-functional programs in alignment with Buckeye's Safety and Operations Management System (SOMS) to drive consistency in program execution and continuous improvement. Programs can be inclusive of the following:
    • Corrective Actions Management
    • Lessons Learned Management
    • Incident Reporting and Investigation Management
    • Operations Programs Audit and Assessment Management
    • Lead administration and management of Buckeye's Audit and Assessment and Incident Reporting Database (BIRD) - SAI Global.
  • Operations Program and Process Performance Assurance: Manage, support, and develop programs focused on measuring the effectiveness of operations programs, processes, and work activities. Responsibilities include:
    • Ensure Audit and Assessment strategies, programs, and processes remain in-line with organizational goals and Buckeye's Safety and Operations Management System.
    • Management of Safety and Operations Management System related assessments and effectiveness evaluations.
    • Lead Buckeye's operational audit programs including the LIVE Safe Observations, Work Procedure Reviews, Spot Audit Program and Comprehensive Site Audit Program.
    • Ensure visibility to Audit and Assessment planning, activities, and results including repeat findings and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Operational Performance Data Reporting and Analysis: Lead collection, evaluation, and reporting of cross-functional performance metrics to support leadership in making key business decisions.
    • Support leadership in identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that align to business objectives, goals, and improvement initiatives.
    • Trend, consolidate, and report cross-functional and programmatic performance measures, metrics, and KPIs to support leadership in identifying and prioritizing areas of opportunity.
    • Analyze and identify meaningful conclusions from KPIs for management review.
    • Collaborate with operations and programs to drive continuous improvement of metrics including enhanced performance, efficiency, and reliability.
    • Facilitate Leadership review of operations performance metrics, feedback, and trends.
  • High Performance Culture Programs and Processes: Support and maintain programs and processes that enable, empower, and reinforce a High-Performance Culture. Programs and processes can be inclusive of:
    • High Performance Team Program
    • Recognition Programs
    • Regular communications and engagements, like newsletters, updates, and dashboards.
    • Feedback and two- way communication across operations and support services and programs.
    • Summits and large group engagements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required, preferably in Organizational Leadership, Business or an Engineering-related discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional, related experience in Operations.
  • Direct operations leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills.
  • Advanced experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (including Power BI, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is preferred.
  • Up to 35% travel

  • In order to be successful in this position, one must possess strong leadership and influence skills.
  • Excellent program development, organization and analytical skills are required.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) skills are required, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills. Problem-solving skills are also essential.
  • Individual must be available during non-work hours as required. Normal and extraordinary work circumstances may require, without notice, evening, weekend or holiday work.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.
