Job Description/Essential Functions:

Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania's oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice.

We are seeking an On-Call Psychiatrist to provide direct services to consumers, including psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, psychopharmatherapy, and crisis assessment/intervention.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • To attend case conferences for consumers; oversee the treatment planning process by the treatment team; monitor and approve treatment plans and concurrent reviews.
  • To clinically supervise the psychiatric treatment of all clients by monitoring and ensuring the provision of an acceptable level of clinical practice, in compliance with funding source requirements and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up evaluations of consumers. Evaluations include a psychiatric assessment and recommendations for specific services.
  • To provide direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients in the services assigned him/her.
  • To assure that all clinicians in services assigned to him/her receive appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Participate in administrative duties as delegated by the Medical Director.
Job Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor.
  • Possess valid PA and or DE state license to practice medicine.
  • Must have completed an ACGME accredited psychiatric residency training program and preferably be
    Board certified.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric, clinical and psychosocial rehabilitation practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Very strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented.

Scope:

  • Frequent talking and listening.
  • May be required to provide crisis intervention assistance in emergency situations.
