Level three tooling machinists work without supervision to setup and operate manual and cnc mills, grinders, lathes, EDMs, and polishing equipment to produce all required product types including complex tooling assemblies. Level three tooling machinists also demonstrate intermediate trouble shooting abilities and perform setups for others as well as mentor lower level employees. In addition to operation, basic NC programing may be required. They will also demonstrate intermediate knowledge of thread/form roll tooling materials, configurations and function, packages, punches and dies. 3-5 Years
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Correctly interpret work orders
- Lift up to 30lbs
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Operate all required equipment (Lathes, Grinders, and EDM, etc.)
- Machine complex components
- Assist in R&D work (working with engineering & production)
- Provide leadership and training to lower level employees
- Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills:
- The ability to read and write English.
- Advanced shop math
- Advanced print reading
- Advanced inspection tools and processes
- Advanced trouble shooting, (Product & Equipment)
- Advanced knowledge of materials (Carbide, etc.)
- The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills
- The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions
Experience & Education
- Typically 3-5 Years
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
