Organizational Overview

The Institute of International Finance (IIF) is one of the world's largest global associations of financial institutions with member firms in more than 75 countries. We serve as a forum for exchanging views and developing proposals on global financial issues; we advocate for regulatory, financial, and economic policies that are in the broad interests of our members and foster global financial stability and sustainable economic growth; and we provide our members with an independent source of economic and financial research.

Internship Summary

The IIF is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated graduate student to support its Economic Research department with a focus on Africa/Middle East. Responsibilities will include analyzing data, monitoring macroeconomic and financial developments, formatting research reports and presentations, preparing first drafts of papers and briefs, and providing other assistance as necessary. The intern will also contribute to IIF economic publications, construct and update economic databases, analyze data, and monitor macroeconomic and financial developments. This is a part-time unpaid remote internship; however, it offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your knowledge, gain experience, and sharpen your research skills, and may qualify for academic credit. We request a minimum commitment of 16 to 20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible.

IIF is pleased to provide its staff with a hybrid work environment: staff members are required to work in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays but have the option of working remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Minimum Qualifications

A successful candidate would have a demonstrable interest or experience in Africa/Middle East, excellent research and writing skills, and be able to manage a substantive research project independently. Master's degree in in finance, economics, or statistics is preferred, but a comparable degree in a related discipline may be acceptable. Proficient with Microsoft Office 360 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Previous knowledge and/or experience is an advantage. Strong quantitative skills are required, especially in Excel. Experience with data providers such as Bloomberg or Haver would be an advantage.

To receive full consideration for this internship, please submit a cover letter and resume when applying. For more information about the IIF, please refer to our website at https://www.iif.com.
