HDR is seeking a co-op student to join our Resources Business Group and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals team in Charlotte, NC. This position can be based out of our Charlotte, NC or Greenville, SC office. The ideal candidate will have a technical interest in the energy sector.

The co-op student will assist HDR engineers with preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and civil design in support of electrical substations (low, medium and high voltage), substation systems, and transmission lines under the direction and supervision of senior engineers and designers. This position will provide an opportunity for on-the-job training in site planning and layout, grading and drainage design, access & erosion control plans, limit of disturbance calculations, site due diligence, permitting, specifications, and construction administration of site infrastructure components.

This co-op position is for the Spring 2022 semester.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a BS or MS in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and thrive working in a team environment.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and AUTOCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local candidates
