3M is seeking a Machinist for the Abrasive Systems Division/Precision Grinding & Finishing, located in Royersford, PA. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Machinist will produce machined parts by fixturing, setting up, and operating manually operated lathes, milling machines, grinders and misc. shop equipment; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and tooling.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career and in any experience language.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Required to read, understand and follow work orders and blueprints/Engineering drawings.
• Measures and verifies setting and parts by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces utilizing: comparator, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment needed
• Run various manual machines; lathes, mills, hones, and grinders
• Creatively machine complex parts; either complex sequence and/or set up
• Operate machines simultaneously
• Required to regularly hold .0005" tolerance
• Select tools for optimum productivity
• Selects/creates work holding for optimum productivity
• Meet productivity requirements
• Required to train other employees
• Report time and material in manufacturing systems
• Perform other duties as assigned

This position will require:

• Work either a 2nd or 3rd shift, depending on employee availability

Basic Qualifications:

• Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Minimum one (1) year of related machinist experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Required to maintain .0005" tolerance
• Correctly and accurately inspect product using required measuring equipment
• Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings
• Functional and technical skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills; excel, word, SAP
• Understanding controls and instrumentation
• Attention to detail and have sound judgment
